Here at the O'Neill Surf Academy we've got an amazing facility within the Watergate Bay complex to help you get right into the spirit of the local surf community and beach lifestyle. If you're going to put the hard work in out in the water then you'd better be ready to reap the rewards of a wonderful surfing lifestyle that we all love and enjoy here at Watergate Bay - The home of UK surfing!
O'Neill Base Camp - Watergate Bay
We meet for each lesson at our brand new O'Neill Base Camp - ideally located in the downstairs of the Phoenix Restaurant and next to Gone Feral Surf Shop we're just 100 metres from the sand!
You're invited to join us in the 30 minutes before your lesson start time. Make yourself at home with a hot drink and get amped for your session as the latest surf movies play out on the big screen or browse through our selection of surfing magazines. Most importantly you can meet our amazing coaches who'll be teaching you everything you need to know about surfing. We've also got for your convenience:

- Toilets
- Secure Storage
- Surf Lounge, Bar and Clasroom Facility
- Food and Drink Available
O'Neill Mobile Academy
Alongside our O'Neill Base Camp at Watergate Bay we have a large fleet of surf vans which we can set up as a great mobile facility - with so many great surf spots within easy reach of us, you'll get to join us on many surf adventures around the county. Ideal for when surf conditions aren't looking to great in the Bay!Our Surfing Equipment
We stock a huge collection of all the latest boards and wetsuits. Your equipment is hand picked for you by your instructor. Our extensive selection means that whatever the season you'll be warm and toasty out in the ocean.
If you're hooked on surfing and want to get some practice in after your lesson the great hire facility provided by the Gone Feral Surf Shop means that you can get the very best equipment for you to continue on your path to expert wave rider. Your instructor can help you pick what you need to continue your surfing and to help you improve.
The surf store also stocks a great selection of surfboards, wetsuits and hardwear so when it comes to getting your own gear you can get the right advise, every time! The latest range of surf clothing means you can get the 'look' too!

Our Surf Academy photographer is always around (unless it's raining hard) capturing all the very best bits of your lesson - ready to view on the big screen once you're dressed and ready. You can even join us 'apres surf' for some great evenings with our crew. Get to know our team and become part of our surfing family - and best of all get to enjoy some the the very best bits of Watergate Bay and it's beach lifestyle. The Phoenix Restaurant and Bar provides the perfect setting for watching the sunset over the sea, and great food for any hungry surfer! Wednesdays are our 'Surf Supper' evenings where you're all invited along to join us for some food from our exclusive surfers menu whilst watching the sun set over the bay.
